How to Decorate Your Home For The Holidays Like Tiffani Thiessen

Because it’s so easy, even Tiffani’s four-year-old can do it.

Ever wonder how celebrities decorate and prep for the holidays? Me too — so I caught up with teen idol, actress, and cookbook author Tiffani Thiessen who had a ton of traditions and tips for the holiday-obsessed.

Decor

Tiffani walked me through her entire home — everything from wreaths on her windows to custom gift tags for all the presents she had to wrap this year. Everything was made from scratch, even down to the doormat that welcomed me in.

Crafting with my whole family gets us in the holiday spirit and it’s something that we can do together to celebrate! Involving your loved ones in decorating and creating makes the holidays that much more memorable.

One of the easiest projects Tiffani showed me was a felt ornament. As Tiffani looped her fingers around in several directions, an adorable ornament was created in under five minutes. All you need is your chosen color of felt, scissors, twine, and a hot glue gun. Make ten of these and you already filled up half of your tree for a lot less money than buying ready-made ornaments.

As Tiffani walked me over to her dinner table, it looked like an interior decorator had come through and waved a magic wand, yet again, everything was handmade by Tiffani. She pointed out something as simple as how place cards can change a table.

Having someone’s name written out at a place setting speaks volumes. It shows you took the time and almost acts as a thank you for coming, while also showing them where to sit.

When the holidays are very much about the food, Tiffani loves decor that’s low to the table so she can see everyone's faces and engage in conversation. Things like greenery and mini pumpkins can add a touch of holiday to a usually bland table. Also, don’t be afraid to play with plain old water by throwing in pomegranates to create an immediately festive look.

So where does Tiffani get all of her tools to bring these DIY holiday projects to life?

Wandering the aisles of JOANN Stores provides so much inspiration for me as I prepare for the holidays. [It’s] my one-stop destination for a handmade holiday.

Food

When it comes to food, Tiffani goes all out. Not surprising given her popular cookbook Pull Up A Chair (I’m looking at you, pumpkin waffles). Her biggest piece of advice:

Prep everything ahead of time, especially pies. Pies you can make three days, four days, or even a week in advance. It’s one less thing you have to worry about.

Wondering what to do with your leftover turkey or stuffing? Tiffani has it for breakfast. Yes, you heard that right — breakfast. The food extraordinaire throws stuffing in her waffles for a very unexpectedly delicious meal.

You can also skip the omelette and grab that last slice of apple pie you have been eying on the counter. Top it off with some apple butter and breakfast is served! You won’t regret it.

In case you’re still thinking about those stuffing waffles (I was too), Tiffani shared her recipe on her website so you can enjoy the innovative concoction at home.
