A Definitive Ranking of the New Arctic Zero Flavors
So here’s the deal…I’ve been a Halo Top girl ever since it made its debut in 2011. You couldn’t beat the flavors, but you could beat the price. Arctic Zero was the OG of low-calorie ice creams, but never got the same amount of love. When I was given all of the new Arctic Zero flavors to try, new packaging and all, I was a bit skeptical given my past experience with the lactose-free pints— somewhat like eating flavored snow. However, I was heavily mistaken once I got my hands on these new flavors.
Scroll on for the lowdown on each new pint…
First up, Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cookies. If you’re a fan of dipping your cookies in peanut butter (oh wait, no? that’s just me?), well you may be in luck with this new flavor.
This was by far my favorite new pint of the bunch. A creamy, indulgent base, yet never neglected of those chocolate chunks. When you think low-calorie ice cream, you always think they’ll skimp out on the good stuff (i.e. cookie dough, mint chip, etc.) However, not this one. There were plenty of cookies to go around with that creamy backup flavor. I was finding myself dumping a scoop of this bad boy on everything from slices of banana bread to mug cakes.
Next up, Cookies & Cream.
This new version of Cookies & Cream did not disappoint. I was definitely comparing this to my gold (healthier) standard of Breyer’s Delights Cookies & Cream which is my ultimate fave in the C&C department. This new version was delicious, filled with cookie crumbles, and left me wanting to finish off the pint in the first setting. (For those of you wondering…I didn’t.)
This new Chocolate Chunk pint was the definition of a chocolate lover’s dream. There were plenty of chunks to go around, but also that constant chocolate flavor. It’s a simple flavor, but packs a lot of ~chill~.
Perfect for scooping right out of the container.
Calling all Girl Scout Thin Mint lovers, this flavor is for you. The Mint & Chocolate Cookies flavor definitely got the attention of my taste buds. I’m not the biggest fan of mint-flavored foods, but this ice cream was a nice mix of mint and creamy flavor.
When you are craving a fool-proof vanilla ice cream, this is your guy. The new Vanilla Bean was your traditional creamy vanilla ice cream perfect for when you’re just craving the frozen treat but don’t want to sacrifice the calories.
When I first saw this flavor — Cookie & Brownie Dough, my mind went nuts. Arctic Zero had literally combined two of my favorite things into one and then even better, put it in ice cream form. Although creamy, there just weren’t enough chunks of cookie and brownie to go around. It was the only flavor that made me feel like I was missing out on more indulgent ice cream given there were so few “goodies” in there.
Last but certainly not least, Toffee Crunch. This new pint hooks you up with caramel swirls and chunks of delicious toffee. I definitely didn’t feel like I was missing out on traditional ice cream while diving into this.
It was delicious on its own, but would be even better on top of a warm brownie — up to you if you want it to be a healthy brownie or not.
Overall, Arctic Zero is not messing around with this new line up of flavors. There really is no comparison to their first line of lactose-free ice creams, which really weren’t meant for the ice cream addicts. These pints pack flavor, creaminess, and innovation into one.
Looking forward to seeing what new flavors they come up with next!
