A Definitive Ranking of the New Coconut Bliss Flavors
Time for that summer body, am I right?
A few years back, I had a chance to review some of the new flavors in the lower-calorie ice cream category. I was an OG Halo Top girl, but there are so many new brands and flavors on the market now that it’s hard to keep track. One that’s been around for quite some time is Coconut Bliss, a vegan, dairy-free, organic ice cream brand.
When you hear vegan, you likely imagine it can’t possibly taste like the rich, decadent frozen treat you’re used to. However, I have to say Coconut Bliss exceeded my expectations. The brand recently debuted Everyday Bliss, a completely new line of organic, plant-based ice creams. Here’s what I thought…
Vanilla Brownie Swirl — A+
Listen, any vegan ice cream trying to call itself Brownie Swirl has a very high bar to meet. Although this brownie chunk ice cream didn’t resemble a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s (and it’s not supposed to), it definitely tasted indulgent for ice cream without any dairy. There were plenty of brownie chunks to go around that met perfectly with the vanilla ice cream. It could definitely use a few more brownie chunks but this was one of my favorites.
Salty Peanut Butter Chip — B+
If you want to smother peanut butter on top of everything, this flavor was created with you in mind. The taste of peanut butter is extremely distinct, but I did miss the chip part. I am all about putting an extra cup of chocolate chips into everything I bake, so personally I would’ve enjoyed some more chocolate taste.
Caramel Macchiato — A
I drink iced coffee year-round so I’m always looking for new ways to get a caffeine fix. I loved this flavor because of the hint of coffee mixed with smooth caramel and chocolate chips. This almost tasted like one of those specialty Dunkin’ flavors you only get once in a while — except this flavor is available all the time!
Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip — B
I am all about sweet over salty so this one came in last for me. It’s perfect for anyone who craves a bag of pretzels instead of a bar of chocolate. Although, that person is not me. I did love the tastes of caramel swirled with chocolate chips though, which seems to be a common theme across all of the new flavors. For a chocolate lover like me, I am not complaining.
You can pick up the new pints at retailers across the country. Here comes summer!
